Borth sports a family-friendly surfing beach as well as a petrified forest at low tide, an excellent butcher, well-stocked convenience stores, a modern surgery, regular bus and train services to Aberystwyth, a playground, great bric-a-brac shop (upstairs at the Friendship Inn), an “animalarium”, a golf-course, and superb walks across the Cors Fochno (the Borth bog) to the hills behind.

Rockpools are 10 minutes walk below the headland at the south of the village; the sand dunes at Ynyslas are a short car-ride or a beautiful walk along the sandy beach towards the Dovey estuary. The coastal walk to Aberystwyth along the cliffs is about 2-3 hours. There are car boot sales at nearby Clarach Bay or Tre'r'dol alternate Sundays during the summer.

A variety of cafes and restaurants are open all year round, and three of the four pubs serve food, but when you're watching the sun going down across the sea, you may want to stray no further than the kitchen at Chesterton...
